Ways How You Can Unblock the Blocked Drains

Take one cup of baking soda and pour it down the blocked drain and pour 2 cups of boiling water over it leave it overnight and flush it with warm water next morning, or add one more cup of baking soda, quickly followed by one cup of plain white vinegar.  Once you are done with the above process, its time you plug the drain out. You will notice a sizzling sound coming out from the drain with some bubbles. There is nothing to worry as this is a good indication. After the noise is gone and there are no bubbles, add two more cups of boiling water in the drain. You are good to go. Your sink will run smooth and clogging free again. The above-mentioned method is a very effective one. You can even repeat this method once in a month to ensure that your sink remains unblocked and works without any fault.

#3. Waste disposal practices:

Waste disposal practices can also act as a great resource to reduce the possibilities of future blocked drains. For example:

  • Use of compost or rubbish bins in the kitchen for the disposal of leftover food or any sort of paper products.
  • Use of plughole filter in the bathroom to avoid blockage from hair and other similar proteins.

#4. Eliminating Odors

One of the most common side effects of a drain blockage is the bad odor which is also the nastiest one. The item rots and breeds bacteria and thus releases the nasty smell.  As mentioned above, building a habit of using natural remedies, on monthly basis, is a good way to keep away from such bad odors. But here are some more ways to get rid of these nasty odors:

  • Fix plumbing issues causing molds and mildew.
  • Pouring mineral oil will help you get rid of bad odor
  • Flush the heated water to kill the bacteria and odor.
  • Empty drain traps regularly.
