Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Saturday chaired an all-get together assembly of representatives of legislative parties, at which a resolution was handed, rejecting the 103rd Constitution Amendment providing for a 10% quota for economically weaker sections (EWS) of the society. As per the resolution, the events have also made the decision to file a overview petition against the Supreme Courtroom verdict upholding the validity of the Constitutional modification.

The AIADMK and the BJP boycotted the meeting. Former Main Minister O. Panneerselvam’s point also did not get component in the conference.

Representatives from the Congress, PMK, MDMK, VCK, CPM, CPI, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi, Tamilaga Valvurimai Katchi and The Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi have been existing.

The EWS reservation is opposite to the social justice basic principle approved in the Constitution and also versus the different judgements of the Supreme Courtroom and is also discriminatory from the weak, the resolution said. It also termed for the Tamil Nadu government to place forth its argument strongly.

‘Amendment will demolish theory of social justice’

Previously, addressing the all-occasion meeting, Chief Minister MK Stalin claimed if the modification was acknowledged, it would destroy the theory of social justice. “They would take away the reference ‘socially and educationally backward’ and incorporate ‘economically’ in almost everything. That is why we strongly opposed the amendment in the Parliament and voted from it, Mr. Stalin mentioned.

The CM also questioned the requirements mounted for EWS reservation. “They are declaring that people earning fewer than ₹8 lakh can profit. Are individuals earning ₹66,660 a thirty day period bad? Are those people earning ₹2,222 everyday, lousy? The BJP govt claims those people earning much less than ₹2 lakh have to have not pay back earnings tax. Then how can these earning ₹8 lakh be classified as bad,” he asked. This is not reservation for the very poor in the ahead class, but reservation for the forward caste, he famous.
