Karma is further classified into two categories based on the motivation for starting work.

  • Sakama Karma: Sakama karma would be every individual idea or physical response that generates a feeling of ‘mine’ or ‘your’ inside a person’s mental health. One such karma indicates an individual’s selfishness. Yoga is not intended for Sakama karma since it holds people trapped in the bonds of karma, whereas Karma yoga frees people from the bonds of karma. Sakama Karma, whether knowingly and sometimes subconsciously, instils ego, hate, and envy in a human soul.
  • Nishkama Karma: Nishkama is a Sanskrit word that means ‘unselfish deed.’ The benefit of unselfish behaviour would be that it eliminates the link of karma and frees humans from the reality of death and rebirth. Whenever the motive underlying karma may not be the primary goal, an individual is following the path of Nishkama Karma. Humankind’s tolerance, assisting, caring sentiments, and empathy conduct is indeed an illustration of Nishkama or unselfish conduct. Nishkama karma practice brings the practitioner to surrender, which therefore cleanses the soul.

Timeline based Karma:

One other basis for categorising karmic yoga is indeed an activity humans committed in history, an activity humans are executing now, and the outcome of the activity. There seem to be three forms of Karma Yoga based on this foundation.

  • Sanchita Karma: Sanchita represents the karma humans have accrued in history. Sanchita means ‘accumulation’ in Sanskrit. As a result, Sanchita is the collection of past deeds. Every human must face karma or fate at a certain point in life. As humans move through their current situation, the culmination of this karma begins to collect as Reincarnation.
  • Prarabdha Karma: Prarabdha is the component of destiny or accomplished karma that is accountable for an individual’s current state. If humans are having a wonderful day right now, it would be almost certainly due to prior karma. Prarabdha karma, either positive or negative, can only be experienced and cannot be altered. This is a repercussion of the prior karma.
  • Agami Karma: Agami means “immediately available.” This karma stems from Prarabdha Karma. This can be changed to reflect the current state of the efforts.
