Kefir, the world’s biggest cat, is so big that people sometimes think that he is actually a dog and the thing with him is that he is still growing.

The oversized cat that we are talking about is the pet of Yulia Minna, who lives in Stary Oskol, a small town in Russia.

Yulia said that she bought Kefir almost 2 years ago as a little Maine Coon kitten and now, she says that people mostly think that Kefir is a dog.

When asked why she named the cat as Kefir, Yulia said that Kefir is actual a milky fermented drink that she loves.

Talking about her pet, she said:

I couldn’t imagine an ordinary kitten could become so big. He’s very smart though, and always behaves calmly.

Kefir may look big and scary, however, Yulia says that Kefir is a very affectionate cat who loves getting attention.

Yulia added:

When friends and acquaintances come to the house—all the attention is on him and he willingly allows himself to be stroked. But when strangers come to the house, everyone confuses him with a dog.

Yulia also said that Kefir loves to climb on her and sleep during night time.

Yulia said:

When he was a kitten, it didn’t cause me any inconvenience. But now he has become big and heavy, of course it’s difficult to sleep like that.

As of writing this, Kefir is now 1 year and 10 months old. He weighs around 12.5 kilograms heavy and is expected that he will continue growing until he reaches the age of 3 to 4 years old, said Yulia.
