A loyal Dunkin’ Donut customer surprised her favorite employee with a fully-furnished house after finding out that she got evicted from her home with her little children.
Suzanne Burke, who is from Mount Healthy, Ohio, said she met Ebony Johnson, the employee, 3 years ago when she was buying her coffee at a local Dunkin’ Donut drive-thru.
Suzanne was a regular at the shop as she is an avid coffee drinker and with this, the two became close.
The two chatted almost every morning and their friendship just got stronger.
When Suzanne found out that Ebony, who is a single mother, got evicted from her house with her 3 children, she decided to do something about it.
The kind woman found a new place for her to live in and filled the house with furniture.
Suzanne gifted the house to Ebony and her children so they could have a place to call home ahead of the holiday season.
During an interview with WCPO, she said: “I go [to Dunkin’] every morning. Ebony has worked the drive-thru for three years and really has provided amazing customer service. I just wanted to see if I could help her improve her life and the life for her kids. I wanted to make sure that they had stable housing, so that she could continue to provide the excellent service she does at Dunkin’.”
Suzanne worked with Jo Potvin, a staging designer at Design to Market, and New Life Furniture Bank, for the project.
Ebony was touched with the kind act of Suzanne.
The woman broke down in tears as she walked into the house for the first time.
Ebony said she was thankful to Suzanne and everyone who made it possible because her kids would have a safe and comfortable place to stay in to celebrate the upcoming holidays.
She added: “I’m just so thankful we’re back in our home. The Lord really looked out for me because I kept praying and saying, ‘Could I be at home before Christmas?’”
The kids of Ebony were in complete awe when they got to know about the entire thing.
Suzanne said the 3 kids ran through the house after finding out that they were getting their own rooms.
