A priest from Italy was fined because he reportedly tolled the bells of his church too much.
The news, which was first reported by RTE, said that the incident happened in Florence, Italy.
The priest in Florence, Italy had the residents outside the Santa Maria a Coverciano Church up in arms for 4 straight years.
According to reports, the priest rang the church’s bells for up to 200 times on a daily basis.
The people of the town said that Father Leonardo Guerri rang the bells on a daily basis between 8 in the morning up until 9 pm in the morning.
They said that it interferes with work, sleeping and relaxation, which is why they decided to take action.
The fold in the town also said that he rang the bills more during the holiday season, which really interfered with their sleeping and relaxation.
After years of feuding, the local municipality ended up fining the priest over $2000.
According to the report by the RTE, the priest is still allowed to ring the bells, however, it will only be allowed during the gathering of a mass and the last service of the day, which is at 6pm.
The priest is yet to release a comment about the incident and refused to talk about it when they were contacted by the AFP.
