After 18 years in first-class cricket, amazing has been seen again. England’s county team Glamorgan batsman Sam Northeast scored 410 not out. Only a few batsmen in the world have been able to cross the 400-run mark, now NorthEast’s name has been included in them. This is the 11th time this has happened in world cricket. At the same time, NorthEast is the third batsman for England to score more than 400 runs in an innings.
NorthEast has played the biggest innings of this century in the first class. He has left behind Lara’s unbeaten 400. For the fourth time in county cricket, a batsman has scored more than 400 runs in an innings. Brian Lara, AC McLaren and Graeme Hick did it before NorthEast. Lara has the highest score in the first class. He scored an unbeaten 501 against Durham on 2 June 1994 while playing for Worcestershire. He broke the record of Hanif Mohammad of Pakistan. Hanif scored 499 against Bahawalpur on January 8, 1959, while playing for Karachi.
Lara has touched the 400-run mark twice
Brian Lara is the second batsman to cross the 400-run mark twice. Will Ponsford has also done this twice. Lara scored an unbeaten 400 against England for West Indies on 10 April 2004. This is the only four-hundred in Test cricket. 18 years after Lara’s century, a batsman has achieved the feat of scoring 400 runs. NorthEast completed 400 runs in 447 balls. He remained unbeaten on 410 off 450 balls. He hit 45 fours and three sixes in his innings.
