Splatoon 3 scores second UK number one – Games charts 17 September

Nintendo has enjoyed another week at the top of the charts, although there’s little in the way of new releases to dislodge Splatoon 3.

As the summer games drought drags into the autumn, it’s not surprising to find that Splatoon 3 is still at number one, with not a single new entry in the top 40.

Splatoon 3 saw a drop in sales of 60% in its second week, which is normal for a big release, and while Nintendo won’t release official figures it seems it has sold particularly well as a digital release – no doubt as a result of it being a primarily online game.

There are a couple of notable launches this week but Return To Monkey Island and Hardspace: Shipbreaker don’t have physical releases, although Square Enix’s The DioField Chronicles does.
