Overview – World Environment Day
The United Nations World Environment Day is held each year on June 5. This day is an opportunity for the international community to reflect on the state of the environment and to take action to protect it. This year’s theme is ” Beat Plastic Pollution”.
Plastic pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time. It is estimated that each year, eight million tons of plastic end up in the oceans – where it does serious damage to marine life.
On World Environment Day, let’s pledge to do our part to Beat Plastic Pollution. There are many things we can do to reduce our reliance on plastic, such as carrying reusable shopping bags and water bottles, and avoiding single-use plastic products.
Let’s work together to create a cleaner, healthier world for all.
