Your eyes are your most important piece of equipment. If you’re like me, you use your monitor for hours, every day. At a minimum, you should replace your monitor every three years. If your monitor is looking a little dim, you should consider replacing it.
Refresh Rates Hit the Roof
The refresh rates of monitors rose with the introduction of the first 4K monitors. With a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, these monitors have a much higher resolution than any other monitor.
The extra pixels allow for a much smoother picture with the refresh rates of these monitors rising to 60Hz and upwards. These monitors are only available on the more expensive side of the market, but they are also the best choice for gaming.
IPS Monitors Finally Hit 1 ms Latency
In the past, IPS panels were often associated with slower response times. With the release of 4K monitors, however, the response times have also become a major consideration. Companies such as Acer and Asus have already released the first 4K monitors, which have been well received.
As the resolution increases, the response time requirements also increase. 4K monitors need response times of around 3 ms – which is actually quite a leap in response time requirements.
Replace Two Monitors with a Single Ultrawide
Monitor The new LG 34UC97-S ultrawide monitor has recently been released, and it’s the first IPS (In-Plane Switching) monitor with a resolution of 3440×1440 (21:9).
It has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and is designed to give a wider field of view.
The Price of 4K Monitors Has Dropped Significantly
In the past, 4K monitors were too expensive for most PC gamers, but prices for 4K monitors have dropped significantly in the last few years.
You can now find a 4K monitor for under $200, although we still recommend spending a little more for a monitor that has higher quality output.
4K monitors have a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, which is four times the resolution of a 1080p monitor, which is limited to 1920x1080p. 4K monitors allow you to see more of the screen at one time.

Is It Worth Upgrading? Yes!
If you own a 144-Hz monitor, you should definitely consider upgrading in 2021. The latest games will be significantly smoother, and you may even be able to hit higher frame rates.
If you own a 120-Hz monitor, the benefits are significantly less. You’ll get higher frame rates at the same resolution, but the difference is not as significant. You’ll still be able to tell the difference, but it won’t be as dramatic.
This is why I always recommend that you use a minimum of a 2GHz processor when building a gaming PC, even if you’re going to be playing at 1600×1200. Unless you’re really good with the mouse, you might want to use a higher resolution as well.
: Monitors with a resolution of 1440p or 4K may still be worth it if you want to take full advantage of your GPU. However, you will need to be running the latest games at medium to high settings in order to see a major difference.

Not enough pixels

They have faster pixel response times, but they have inferior contrast ratios, colors, viewing angles, and more. The best gaming monitors are IPS, but they’re not always the best choice.
A fractional pixel

Turn off font smoothing

The Gaming Experience

GPU vs CPU: What Matters Most for PC Gaming?
We tested the Asus G501 with the Nvidia 965M GPU and it performed pretty well. In games such as GTA V, The Witcher 3, and Bioshock Infinite, we were able to achieve an average frame rate of 30 fps at 1080p.
In less optimized games, we were able to achieve a minimum frame rate of 25 fps in GTA V, 17 fps in The Witcher 3, and 19 fps in Battlefield 4.
Thermals We measured a peak temperature of 81.7 degrees after playing GTA V for half an hour. The average was around 70 degrees. The palms of our hands were also very warm after playing for extended periods of time. We recorded a peak temperature of 72.
