Embolden Your Bathroom With This Renovation Checklist

How’s your bathroom? Is it old and outdated? Maybe a little dark and could use a big window?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have something a little more cheerful?

You might balk at the idea of a bathroom renovation because it sounds overwhelming. But, if you follow this checklist (and hire an amazing contractor) you’ll have a bold new bathroom before you know it!

1. Planning

Don’t do anything without a plan. Sit down and think about how you want the finished product to look. What vibe would you like your bathroom to have? Chic and sophisticated? Rustic? Modern? Classic?

Spend some time looking through home and garden magazines or scrolling through bathroom images online. This will help you develop a solid idea of what you like.

2. Demolition

Decide what can stay and what needs to go. If you’re going to be changing the layout or installing new fixtures, a full-on demolition may be required. In other cases, you may only need to pull out certain elements. Make sure you have a way to dispose of debris and don’t just leave it to sit and rot in the back corner of your property.

3. Plumbing and Electrical Rough-In

Once everything is out that you don’t need, it’s time to start putting in the things you do need. If you will be repositioning fixtures or adding new lights, you’ll need to have an electrician and a plumber install the new plumbing and electrical connections you’ll need.

Make sure to think about things like extra plugs, new task lighting, or even a set of heated towel racks. They all need to get power from somewhere.

4. Walls and Flooring

Now, turn your attention to the walls and the floor. We suggest installing radiant floor heating because everyone loves it so much. Imagine not stepping out from a nice hot shower onto a cold tile bathroom floor!

Plaster over the walls and start getting excited. It’s actually kind of starting to look like a bathroom.

5. Cabinet Installation

With the walls closed and waterproofed, it’s time for your Adelaide Bathroom Renovation Specialists to install the cabinets.

Good cabinets are expensive but worth it in the long run. If your current cabinets are still in good shape, have them refinished instead of scrapping them and going for new ones.

You can change the entire look of your bathroom with this one simple trick. Choose a different colour or replace the countertop and they will look like something else!

6. Finishing It Up

Your contractor has gotten you this far so you might opt to do some of these tasks yourself.  This includes adding silicone to the joints, painting, adding shelves, heated towel racks, hanging mirrors, etc.

Be Bold in Your Bathroom

You spend a chunk of time in the bathroom before you go out and face the world. Build a bold bathroom that will inspire you to be bold and beautiful every moment of the day!
