Tesla Taps Indian-Origin Vaibhav Taneja as New CFO

Elon Musk-led electric vehicle maker Tesla has appointed Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Taneja, who is currently serving as the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) at Tesla, will take over the additional responsibility of CFO. He will replace Zachary Kirkhorn, who has stepped down after four years in the role.

Taneja is a graduate of the University of Delhi and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has over 20 years of experience in the financial industry, having worked at companies such as McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. He joined Tesla in 2016 after the company acquired SolarCity, where he served as the CAO.

In his new role as CFO, Taneja will be responsible for Tesla’s financial planning and analysis, treasury, investor relations, and accounting functions. He will also play a key role in the company’s growth plans, as Tesla looks to expand its production capacity and reach new markets.
