Woman Stages Her Own Kidnap To Con Her Former Boyfriend Out Of $2600

A woman was sentenced in court after staging her Own Kidnap in a failed attempt to con her former boyfriend out of $2600. 

In October of 2020, Leah Jumeaux sent pictures of herself bound and gagged.

While posing as a kidnapper, she demanded a ransom of $2600 in exchange for her own safe return, however it did not work out.

Leah, 20, was sentenced earlier this January and has been ordered by the court to hand over money to her ex as compensation for her actions.

Leah, who is from South Shore, Blackpool, appeared at Preston Crown Court on January 28, 2022, while being charged with blackmail and fraud by false representation. 

After pleading guilty to the charge of fraud, she was sentenced to do 34 weeks in a young offenders’ institution and has been ordered to pay a victim surcharge. 

During a hearing before this one, Prosecutor Chelsea Thomas told  Blackpool Magistrates’ Court how Jumeaux had sent pictures of herself bound and gagged to her former boyfriend.

Prosecutor Thomas also said that she showed a gun in one of the pictures. 

The authorities did not reveal the name of the former boyfriend or his age.
